Formula SAE (FSAE) is a collegiate design competition organized by Society of Automotive Engineers of China (SAE-China) in which students design, build, test and race formula -style cars against students of other colleges/universities. The competition requires teams to participate in static and dynamic events. The static events include a cost analysis, engineering design, and a business presentation, and the dynamic events include acceleration, skid pad, autocross, and endurance/fuel economy. The 2017 FSAE engaged the largest participation since its start in 2010, attracting 128 teams nationwide for the events including top Chinese universities of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Jilin University, Tongji University, etc.
AMOY Racing Club of XMUT was founded in 2008. Most of its members are from the School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering and a few from School of Materials Science & Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering & Automation, School of Design Art & Fashion Engineering, and International College. In the Club, senior students design and assemble and juniors process and produce. They enhance their hands-on learning ability in the preparation of months for the competition.
